Pallet calculator: how many pallets fit a trailer or container
Choose a pallet and a vehicle — the calculator shows how many pallets fit on the floor and stacked, the best loading pattern and how many loading metres one pallet takes.
The calculator gives the geometric maximum for internal dimensions. Axle loads, overhanging cargo and securing requirements can reduce the real number.
Quick reference (one layer)
| Pallet | Semi-trailer 13.6 m | 20 ft container | 40 ft container | 40 ft high-cube container |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EUR-format 1200 × 800 mm | 34 | 9 | 20 | 20 |
| Industrial 1200 × 1000 mm | 26 | 9 | 20 | 20 |
| Half 800 × 600 mm | 68 | 21 | 45 | 45 |
| Quarter 600 × 400 mm | 136 | 48 | 100 | 100 |
| Square 1140 × 1140 mm | 22 | 10 | 20 | 20 |
How it is calculated
The calculator tries every pattern: all pallets lengthwise, all crosswise, and mixed ones where some rows run one way and the remaining length is filled the other way. That is why a 13.6 m semi-trailer takes 33 EUR pallets loaded three across lengthwise, or 34 when every pallet is turned crosswise, two across. A loading metre is one metre of floor at a width of 2.40 m: a EUR pallet takes 0.40, an industrial pallet 0.50.
